Trip to Jim Corbett National Park
On May 26, students and teachers from our school embarked on an unforgettable adventure to Jim Corbett National Park. This wasn’t just a trip; it was a captivating exploration of the wild, where every step brought new insights, especially into the hidden lives of its magnificent creatures and vibrant birdlife.
Our safari and nature walk became thrilling detective missions. While direct tiger sightings are rare, the excitement of finding fresh pugmarks sent shivers of anticipation through the group. Learning to identify these distinct footprints, understanding what they tell us about the tiger’s movements, and even imagining its journey through the forest was a highlight for many. It was a tangible connection to the park’s most elusive resident, a powerful reminder of the wild wonders that thrive unseen.
Beyond the thrill of the chase, Jim Corbett’s skies and trees offered a spectacular show for our budding ornithologists. Students immersed themselves in bird watching. From the vibrant flash of a kingfisher by the river to the majestic flight of an eagle soaring overhead, the park and the resort’s diverse avian population provided endless fascination. Identifying different species, listening to their unique calls, and observing their behaviours became a serene yet deeply engaging part of our daily routine.
“Finding those pugmarks felt like solving a mystery!” one student excitedly shared, while another added, “I never knew there were so many different kinds of birds. Bird watching was so peaceful and cool.”
Evenings at the resort were filled with reflections, discussions, and fun outdoor games that built camaraderie and strengthened friendships.
This trip to Jim Corbett National Park offered our students a unique perspective on wildlife. It honed their observation skills, fostered patience, and instilled a profound appreciation for the subtle signs of nature and the beauty of its winged inhabitants.
